FPS Drop with 8800GTX SLI

I keep getting fps drops in call of duty 1 and other games. It plays fine for about 10 mins and then the fps drops to 10-20 and stays like that making games unplayable.
Searching around the net i find people have had similar issues but i have yet to find a solution.

At first i assumed it was software so i updated drivers and then reformatted these did not fix my problem. I turned sli off and it still happened, i then took out the graphics cards and tried each one individualy which still did not fix. I am out of ideas of what it could be and need some help as games are just unplayable.

Computer Specs:
Intel Q6600 2.4GHZ
MSI P6N Diamond
4 x 1GB Crucial Ram
Antec 850W Modular PSU
EVGA 8800GTX 768MB x 2 in SLI
Windows Vista X64 SP1

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.
