Upgrading from Radeon 9250

I've had a read though the links in the stickies but to be honest it's all going over my head. I have an ATI Radeon 9250 which was fine until recently but I've started using a 22" monitor running 1680*1050 res and when I've got a few poker windows open it starts to lag and the mouse starts to jump. I play poker professionally so I need this sorted, can someone recommend a new graphics card for me that I can upgrade to with minimal fuss? Don't really care about the price but I don't use the PC for gaming or anything so no need for anything really high-end.

Thanks in advance for any help, I know it's a dumb question compared to some of the problems people need help with on here.

Re: Upgrading from Radeon 9250

Bump

If I'm not giving enough info what do I need to tell you? Don't have a clue what my motherboard is or what slot the graphics card is in...was hoping there's an upgraded version of the 9250 that I can just slot in.

Re: Upgrading from Radeon 9250

sounds like you might be asking a bit much of the card. What brand and model computer is this?

Re: Upgrading from Radeon 9250

Computer's not a brand name, built last year out of spare parts pretty much. Don't use it for anything other than poker so didn't feel the need to spend much on it, always ran fast on the old 19-inch CRT monitor but doesn't seem to like running on the new higher resolution.

I think the motherboard is a Gigabyte nforce3 250 if that helps.

Edit: Ran a program to find out what's in the computer:

Motherboard: Gigabyte NFORCE - nforce3 250
Processor - "AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @ 2000 MHz"
1.5gb DDR-SDRAM
Bios : Award Software International, Inc. F2
Video: ATI Radeon 9250

Just noticed even simple things like scrolling through a website with the page down key make it freeze up for a second so it seems the card just can't handle the screen res for even simple tasks.

Re: Upgrading from Radeon 9250

No the old monitor works fine. The problem is the card can't handle the res, if I drop it to 1280*768 then everything works perfect. I just want a recommendation of a card to buy that can handle the 1680*1050 screen resolution. I've asked this on three forums over a week ago and only had vague responses on each one, if it's an impossible question to answer can you just tell me so I can save some time and drop it into a PC shop to get upgraded.
