Exclamation Need help installing TV tuner card...

Hi all.

Thanks for/to all your help in my questions regarding TV tuner/capture cards lately. Because of your knowledgeable advice and experience, I was able to confidently invest a 100 bucks in an Avermedia combo PCI-E dual tuner card. BUT i did get a surprise as I opened the box this morning - a rainbow colored wire system, about a 10 wires in all leading from the card to a female adapter. Im 90% sure its for audio, and 0% sure what to do with it. Is it for front panel audio connectivity only? Does it need to be connected at all? I have a pic of it here below. Also, next to the white base of where this wiry adatper plugs in, it says "JP1" on the green circuitboard itself in tiny letters. I do have a front panel audio plugin, and recall the directions telling me to plug it into a "JP3", but didnt say where I could find it. I tihnk ive gathered "JP3" is supposed to be on the soundcard itself, but I have onboard sound. (I can get a PCI soundcard cheap though if I need to, so let me know if that would be best)

I got this card whitebox, so no instructions/cd's. It did say where to get the drivers though, so I'm good to go there.

Not sure whats its for. Try installing the card with it just unplugged , it might go in a specific motherboard or other card they make.

Re: Need help installing TV tuner card...

I took it to the local computer shop, and they had no idea either. They seem to think it is for connection to another card they make as well.

Re: Need help installing TV tuner card...

If you had a HTPC case the 8 to 10 pin cable would connect to the front panel connections(Svideo Audio Video in) for the card so you not have to plug camcorders or video games into the back just like the newer TV's have.
I would unplug it from the card if you don't the front panel A/V inputs.

PCI-E requires 26 amps at 12 volts. That's a 650W PSU.
