Tough choices!

Hey there,

I recently purchased a new gaming computer from iBuyPower, specs are listed below:

Processor: Intel i7 920
Motherboard: ASUS P6T Deluxe
Power Supply: 750 Watt Corsair
RAM: 6gb DDR3
Video Card: 9800GX2 eVGA 1gb
Monitor: 1680 x 1050 Acer p223w

I am considering updating my card to either one of the following choices:

- Keep the 9800GX2 and wait for something better to come out.
- Sell the 9800GX2 and buy a 4870x2 Sapphire card.
- Keep the current 9800GX2 and buy another to SLi them. (Power Supply concerns!)

I've heard the 9800GX2 doesn't perform well with Anti-Aliasing due to the 512 cores. But I think the max I should go for on my monitor is x2 or x4. Does the 9800GX2 perform well on high-end games (Crysis, Far Cry 2, Call of Duty 5 etc.) on a 1680 x 1050 resolution? Does the i7 processor work well with the 9800GX2?

Re: Tough choices!

Thats a interesting board, looks sweet, wonder how well it performs.
Im not sure of other comparisons, I built a machine awhile back with
a single 9800gx2. 9650 quad core cpu, asus board, cant remember
the model, p5ws??? high end board. Using fraps it outperformed a
pc in sli using 2 nvidia 280 cards in crysis, and cod, they were using
fraps. Both high end machines. Not sure of the complete config of
the sli machine. The difference wasnt amazing, but suprising. I would
buy another 9800gx2. I would also be looking for a power supply of
around 1000watts. Although that 750watt corsair is a very good psu,
and it may push those two cards, but for me I like to have some
comfortable overhead...
