Problems with GFX Card & Updating

Hi guys, i have a ATi 9600PRO and everything is fine when i install drivers from the CD.

However when i go to download updated drivers like from ati website or the omegadrivers and then install them my graphic card screws up.

When i go to dxdiag under display tab, DirectDrawAcceleration and Direct3D Acceleration are both "Not Available"

and ofcorse that does not allow me to play games, graphics on movies are bad etc..

I dont know why this happens or how can i fix it

Thank you

Re: Problems with GFX Card & Updating

sometimes the older drivers are better than the newer drivers on an older card
are you installing them correctly

in the device manager uninstall the video card
reboot tapping f8 and choose vga mode
when windows finishes rebooting
disable a/virus
install your drivers
reboot the computer

Re: Problems with GFX Card & Updating

Are you sure of the video card model DX Diag is calling it an x1050 rather then a 9600Pro?
Do you currently have the original driver installed or is this the updated one?
I've had some success using the 7.12 drivers on AGP systems > http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/x...cat712-xp.html

Re: Problems with GFX Card & Updating

you may as well reinstall everything to avoid any chance of a conflict
