ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

I am having problems with my display. It twitches and shakes. I was told that it was a video card problem but I have run the pcdoctor on everything and the messages read that my devices are working properly. What could it be??? I have updated all of my drivers, etc.

Re: ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

It is a Compac (1996) but the exact model # is something I would have to look up. The monitor that I got with the system in 2006 fried in about 6 months-they said that it was the video card.
I changed to the Compac but it started going funky about 2 months ago. I upgraded my operating system, drivers, etc. when that started and changed to a different monitor but it bit the dust about 2 weeks ago, so I had to go back to my Compac.
I was thinking that I should get a new monitor but the system is still under extended warranty and they were supposed to set up a technical support maintainence call a week ago--I'm still waiting.

The 200 Xpress Series Is laptop, Doubt you can get the psu ratings for that. It's an integrated mobo gpu (well not really but...) I know because my laptop has one.

Re: ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

It is not a laptop but a HP Pavilion a1310n desktop. Operating system is Microsoft Windows XP, Media Center Edition, 2005. So what you are telling me is that it was built with the wrong video card? I bought it to be able to complete videos for my university courses, etc. and I have had trouble with it from the start. The monitor is a Compaq MV520-- it is not the one the system came with.

It is not a video card the Express 200 is a motherboard chip set Integrated video so you don't have an actual video card and it is most commonly found on lap tops but many OEM desk tops use it also.

As Mcninjaguy stated can you try a different monitor?
Also double check the video cable at both ends (Monitor & PC)
for tightness.

Re: ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

I will get one tomorrow to test it out. I did run a diagnostic again and bumped down my settings on the monitor. It is not twitching as much. Also, I ran AdAware and removed 19 level 3 data trackers. Thanks for your help. If I were to purchase a new monitor, what would you suggest?

Re: ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

Lets make sure it is a monitor issue first.
What size monitor are you interested in and where are you shopping?

Re: ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

I would like an LCD or the like because of the portability. A medium sized monitor would be adequate, I really just need to interface with my data. I would probably shop locally at Office Depot or Wal-Mart but my son always shops the net. Really don't know where to start and I'm wary of purchasing the wrong thing. I was told that all monitors are basically the same but I realize that the driver support must be compatable. Help??? Could not borrow LCD from friend, so I've been searching drivers for the monitor and the ATI. Really cautious about installing those. Downloaded the Driverguide toolkit but haven't had the nerve to run it. Facing finals this week and two major projects are due so I'm trying to limp along. Thanks for all of the input.

Re: ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

you never need a driver for a monitor, but if you do use the driver that comes on the cd with the monitor it just loads the correct colors and settings from it(no big deal if you don't use it though)
something like a 19" monitor would do fine for you but please try borrow a monitor first though!

ASUS 19" widescreen $139 after rebate $109

Re: ATI Radeon 200 Xpress

I have used both of these on builds people really seem to like them I had a 19 standard screen for 2 years myself with no issues , Conceivability isn't that large of an issue with monitors your ATI Express 200 will support the resolution on both of these.
