Nvidia Geforce 8600 vs. 7600 GT
Hi,
I am currently running a 7600 GT graphics card in my computer. A friend has offered me an Geforce 8600 that is simply lying around his office. I have looked for benchmark tests on Tom's Hardware, etc, but can't bring up a direct comparison of the two cards. I have read that the 7600 GT is a good card in the 7 series line, and the 8600 not so good in the 8 series line. All other things equal (such as how I can get the 8600 for free), is it worth swapping the 7600 for the 8600 (ie any "upgrade" whatsoever)? Thanks.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 8600 vs. 7600 GT
Thanks for the responses! I have a 400W power supply, powering a modest amount of periphreals (1 hard drive, 2 optical drives, and a floppy drive). My processor is a AMD Athlon 3800+. Considering the rest of the hardware, I think there should be enough juice to power the 8600.
