Need Compatibility Graphics Card Help
Would a 8800gts graphics card be compatible with my Dell Inspiron 531s?
My computer has pci-express and has an intergrated graphics card already; geforce 6150 64mb so would 8800gts be compatible, if not what would? my budget is from $100-$200 AUS. keep in mind, dell 531s is very slim, ive tried putting in an ATIX7000 256mb and the metal part where u plug in the moniter would be wider than the width of the computer case itself. i could probs just saw off those sticking metal parts but then im afraid if it cant fit it probably has a reason. please help me with this, i have been researching all over the net for answers =[ -b0k1 |

Re: Need Compatibility Graphics Card Help
The Dell Inspiron 531s is a slimline desktop. We usually try to advise people to stay away from slimline desktops because of this exact problem. Graphics cards are to large to fit in the cases and the power supplies required to power them are also to big. That computer probably has a 200/250watt powersupply when you need at least a 650watt quality power supply to run any 8800.
The only way to upgrade these slim line desktops is to use lower end graphics cards that will run on the computers powersupply. And to also find one that is slimline compatible with a low profile bracket.
