evga 7600GT constantly blacks out and comes back

Hey guys, I'm pretty sure my video card is on the brink and I've searched google without any results.

Here's what's happening.

When I boot the computer, everything is fine. It can go days without trouble. Then out of nowhere, it will begin to black out and come back again, out of control. During this, the screen will begin to "tear up". I'll start seeing scrambled images and white noise in some spots. There will even be an after-image of a program that I closed. After a year, I've started seeing speckles of dead pixels showing up and it gets annoying especially during movie playbacks.

During observation, it only seems to do this when my CPU is running at full blast. I can be encoding/compressing a video file or I could be running BOINC SETI@home (CPU temp stays around 60c).

The video card's fan is working too, so that's not the culprit.

Time for a new card?

edit: I'm using the latest drivers and I've even tried the original drivers on the disk. There's no difference.

What Power Supply are you running?
Have you checked the video card temps in ntune or speed fan?

It's a generic 500 watt I bought from CompUSA a couple years ago.

The vid card temp averages around 70C as reported in NTune. Like I said earlier, the fan on the card is fine so it shouldn't be that. The day I bought the card, it has always averaged 70C

Yes 70c-75c is normal for that card the screen tearing would make it card related if it's a EVGA card and registered it may have warranty on it.
