Am I crazy? (9800 GX2 > GTX 280?)
I'm always sort of poking around the PC market, and I stumbled on an early review of the GTX 280 before the GX2 was thrown away.
Now, I know that the GX2 can't run anything with AA worth balls, but I keep seeing it outperforming the GTX 280. But AA isn't really a huge deal to me, because if you looked at the rig I'm coming off of when I build my new machine, boy would you laugh... By the convention, the 8800GTS 640 mb x2 is still right at the price of a GTX 280, and since the GX2 is just two of the 512mb's slapped together...would that be even better? Or would SLI scale differently in games compared to GX2? |

Re: Am I crazy? (9800 GX2 > GTX 280?)
The 9800 gx2 as far as price to performace with the gtx 280 is the better choice. They perform almost the exact same with the gtx 280 being 400 to 450$ and the 9800 gx2 being only arround 300 to 350$.
You would be surprised how much the price goes down just because of an old badge. For example , the 3870 x2 is a tiny bit faster then a 4870 , but is only around 200$ nowadays.
