Re: Please HELP ME UPGRADE MY VIDEOCARD

The Dell Dimension 4550 uses a 2x/4x Agp buss and a 250w power supply
There is not a lot of room for upgrades with your existing psu so what kind of budget do you have?

Re: Please HELP ME UPGRADE MY VIDEOCARD

The top cards I believe you're referring to are PCIex16 and you have a AGP slot with a 2gig P4 so even the top of the line AGP cards would be bottlenecked by the cpu speed and actually I don't think the 4x/8x AGP ATI 2600 card will work in your 2x/4x slot so you'll be looking for older cards plus a larger power supply to fit in a Dell. you will be close to $200 with not a lot of performance gain IMHO.

No from the Dell Documentation
AGP bus protocols 4x/2x modes at 1.5 V

http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...cs.htm#1101572

Which means the a 4x card should work but the newer 4x/8x cards have problems with the type of slot.
