System PTEs
Hu guys. I have a problem that's been bugging me since mid-Oct.
My Geoforce 7100GT started pixellating heavily & as I've experienced this before, knew that my card was dying, so purchased 2 new Geoforce 9500GT's(intended to upgraded wife's rig from onboard vga). Installed one on Vista Business rig with no problems whatsoever, but on installing the 2nd on my XP Pro SP3 rig, after logging in, immediately got BSOD - 0X000000DA - The Driver is mismanaging System PTEs. Couldn't find a way to resolve this, so re-installed 7100GS. So then installed 2nd 9500GT on my Vista Business rig & again no problems. Installed the Geoforce 8500GT taken from wife's rig & installed it on XP Pro rig - Same problem, so again, reinstalled 7100GS & installed 8500GT on XP X64 rig - Same Problem. Currently uninstalled 8500GT & running on onboard graphics. Any help/advice to resolve this issue will be much appreciated. |

Re: System PTEs
Lets see if I got this right. You upgraded video card on your machine,
vista, no problem. Then you installed the other new card on wifes machine, and you get a error. Then you took the same card and installed in your machine, and you get a error? If that is the case I would suspect the card being bad. If thats not the case and you installed the card in your machine and it was ok, I would suspect a power supply issue with your wifes machine. Maybe Im confused. A pci-e card needs at least 26amps on the 12volt rail in order to work, then you need to take into account the age of the psu, and the efficeincy of the said psu.

Re: System PTEs
Not quite right. Originally installed 9500GT on XP Pro rig & after rebooting & logging in to windows, it immediately blue screened. Removed card & drivers & installed that card into my Vista Business rig & no problems. Wife's rig(Vista Business) also upgraded to 9500GT with no problems. Wife's 8500GT installed on XP Pro rig & same blue screen. Removed card & drivers, & reinstalled 7100GS, ok for normal use, but if video or other high intensity graphics, it will pixellate.
Installed 8500GT in XP X64 rig & same blue screen. Before I install any gpu as an upgrade from another card, I always uninstall previous drivers. Returned XP X64 rig to onboard graphics, & no problems. XP Pro, 3gb DDR400 & Jeantech 700w modular psu. XP X64 8gb DDR800 & Jeantech 700w modular psu. Both Vista Business rigs also have the same Jeantech psu. Blue screen states "the driver is mismanaging system ptes & since this problem does not occur with onboard vga & the cards work with Vista, I'm assuming it's the graphics driver. Have tried earlier versions from NVidia, but keep getting same blue screen. Last edited by Sirius B; 11-21-2008 at 07:04 AM. |
