[SOLVED] GeForce 8800 GTS AD Edition Driver issues
hello This would be my first time posting will try hard to give you a good idea of my problem and system. I currently have a nForce 780iSLI mobo, my CPU is a Quad, 4 gigs of ram, Windows XP with SP3, a 750watt PS, and My biggest issue is the GeForce 8800 GTS. I just finished going thru my NVIDIA Control Panel which informed me that there were 2 video drivers I needed to upgrade.. so I downloaded them and saved them to the desktop and clicked on the first one. It informed me that It would remove the old driver and reboot in order to install the new ones and I clicked ok.
Well when the PC tried to reboot everything seem ok except that after I see the black windows loading screen, my monitor goes blank and stays there.. I can see the hard drive light working so I leave it alone for about 20 mins but nothing happens. so i decided to reboot and go into safe mode and I can get to my windows log in screen but when I do my keyboard and mouse deactivate. I tried last known good config but to no avail. Is there anyway that I can reset my drivers without doing it thru Windows? I am completely clueless on what my options are.. Tried researching the forums but I cant seem to find an answer. I will appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you!!

Re: GeForce 8800 GTS AD Edition Driver issues
I cant do that because when I log in vga mode it takes me to the windows log in screen but my mouse and keyboard deactivate upon entering the welcome to windows screen. Thus not allowing me to enter my password and get past that point.

Re: GeForce 8800 GTS AD Edition Driver issues
ok update.. I decided to remove my hard drive and replace it with a smaller back up drive that I have which is a Dual boot of linux and Windows and everything loaded up normally.. does this mean that the problem is my hard drive or maybe software related? and if so do u think a repair would save the HD and the info on it?

Re: GeForce 8800 GTS AD Edition Driver issues
I suspect a software issue. Specifically your motherboard drivers where removed, then upon restart, your windows install is failing to install and use a standard driver for it.
Pop the old drive back in, and then boot from the windows CD and do a repair install. That'll get u up and running so you can install the new nvidia ones. http://www.windowsxpprofessional.win...exfullpage.htm
