Radeon X600 Series Card causing monitor issues
HELP!!!
I just bought a new DVI cable to run from my RADEON X600 video card to my Dell monitor. The RADEON X600 has two outs, a D-Sub (VGA) and DVI. Previous to this I had been using the VGA output, but I got a DVI cable for better quality. Anyway, I plug the DVI cable in to the DVI out on my video card, and when I turned on the monitor, all my graphics got set back to defaults, and when I go to my desktop and right click and go to properties and settings, it's acting like I have two monitors. I think maybe it's acting like I have two monitors because I have the monitor plugged into the DVI port now, which is the second port on the video card...How do I tell my computer to use the DVI output for the ONLY monitor thats connected? And then how can I set my graphics back to higher quality? Every time I try right now it does some weird things but doesn't increase quality at all. |

Re: Radeon X600 Series Card causing monitor issues
I would just go back to useing the vga if it's createing this much of a problem. Dvi is technically a better signal type , but its visually identical to vga. Vga uses electrical signals while dvi uses digital signals , but it comes out the other end on the monitor the same.
But if you want to continue useing the dvi cable then just disable the monitor that isn't being used. Hit the identify button and it tells you the number of what monitor your useing , then disable the one thats not in use. And as far as the graphics you need to set it to settings that your monitor supports , it will say in your monitors instructions or on the web if you type in it's exact model in a search engine.
