Help!!! Card turning my monitors off when loading a game

Hi All, I just joined and reading through this thread I never thought that the problem I'm having with my card was a problem anyone else was having... I bought my ATI HD2900XT about 8months ago and never had a single issue with it... I LOVE that card, but a few days ago while a game was loading, It got though the intro and all but just when it seemed that the card was starting to wind up and do a little work both my monitors went into a standby mode and my PC became totally unresponsive.However i could still hear the game in the background,starting to freeze up. Had to go through the whole process of plugging into my onboard and trying to troubleshoot... Now this HAS got me quite concerned as everything points toward my card coming undone... I eventually Formatted my entire drv and installed xp,Board drv's and Cat.8.4-Now at the time the problem happened the 1st time i was running Cat.8.11- nothing has changed,My card works i start windows, play video's,DVD's etc but the second i start a game my monitors go into Standby mode.

My PC Specs:
Intel Frostberg Motherboard
2 GIG's DDR2 800
320gig Sata
250gig IDE
ATI HD2900XT
with a 500w PSU

how about running your comp in safe mode uninstall your graphics card
restart
start it up in safe mode again and install the drivers
restart
and see how it goes

with a HD2900XT you need to be up around a quality 850w
