video card won't install!

Hi,

I just brought a NVIDIA FX5500 Geforce graphics card, and I'm trying to install it on my IBM Thinkcentre s50 8429, but all I get is a blank screen and a loud beeping noise.

As far as I can tell, its physically installed correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

your video card is agp X 8,and the computer you have has only got pci and I dont think you put that card in it ,I cant find any spec on the type of card you can put in it ,best you talk to ibm

Then he probably bought the pci version of the fx 5500. Did you go into your bios and activate the pci video setting?

I did. It was originally set to PCI, even though there was no card installed. I tried it on that setting, and tried it on Integrated. Neither option helped.

Try changeing the pci slot that it's in. There's usually a pci slot reserved for a videocard.

I tried both slots, both set to PCI and Intergrated, and neither worked. :(

I'm not entirely sure then , if you can find bios or motherboard drivers updates try getting the latest.
