Video was working now is not
Hello everyone. I just built a new system last night with a evga geforce 9800gt. it was working fine on a lcd monitor even through several reboots and install the drivers and new software. i brought the computer to my office this morning and the computer turns on and everything turns and moves and sounds like it boots up but I can't see anything on my monitor. So thinking it was a cable issue i plugged it up to a different monitor and still the same thing it is like there is no signal. i have taken the card out and placed it back in the system and checked all the cables and connections inside the computer
Suggestions would be great Thanks |

Re: Video was working now is not
Have you plugged the video cable into the other port and tried it?
I ask this question only because I got caught doing the same thing once. After trying, what I thought was everything, I plugged the cable into the other port on my graphics card and everything came up. Pauldo Last edited by Pauldo; 11-07-2008 at 10:35 AM. |

Re: Video was working now is not
Yes I have tried both video ports on the video card. i am using the dvi -vga adapters and have tried both adapters that came with the card. What I can't understand is that it worked fine last night and now it is doesn't.

Re: Video was working now is not
Yeah, I had a system like that once. Had a friend drop off the computer at my house so I could fix it. I got it running perfectly at my house. When my friend got it home it was slower than molasses and video was all out of wack. Still haven't pinpointed what went wrong between my house and his.
Only thing that I can think of is to swap in another video card to see if that is the culprit. Just make sure to uninstall the drivers each time you switch out the video card. By the way, what is the make and model of your motherboard? Pauldo |

Re: Video was working now is not
Well I have taken it back home yesterday to bench test the system. Still no working even at my house.. Took out memory rearranged and tested indiv. also So I tried another MB that I had at my house that fit the specs of the other computer. Still nothing. So I got a PSU this morning and am going to try it and see if it is the PSU. I have replaced the CPU, the Memory ( w/ diff memory), 2 different GPU cards, and even onboard video, and different MB. I just don't understand if the HD and CD Drive and all the fans and lights on come what it could be.
BTY Does anybody have or use the PCI BIOS testers and if so are they helpful in these type of situations. Thanks |
