[SOLVED] No signal 9800 GTX+
Hello, we'll this is a very confusing issue... so here goes:
I purchased a Evga 9800 GTX and a 700W OCZ PSU 2 months ago and they have been running fine ever since, however I just got home from a 3 week vacation yesterday (everything was unplugged before i left) and my PC wouldn't boot up at all, the fans would spin for .5 seconds then shut off. I assumed it was either the PSU or my motherboard so I had already bought new hardware while I was on my trip and decided to install it all in case it was my motherboard. I installed everything correctly I believe, I added the following parts to my system: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128359 CPU: Intel Q6600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115017 CPU COOLER: Asus Arctic Square http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835101010 RAM: Corsair XMS2 DHX 4GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820145194 ________________________________________________________________ GPU and PSU (2 months old): GPU: EVGA 9800 GTX+ 512MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130376 PSU: OCZ 700W GameXStream http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817341002 ________________________________________________________________ Alright, so onto the problem.. I installed everything and the PC started up just fine but I forgot to put in my vista CD to reformat so I put in my CD turned it off and turned it back on and from then on I haven't been able to get any video (I've gotten it to show video maybe twice all day after that). I reseated the video card twice, took out the bios battery and put it back in and still nothing. All the power cables needed for the card were plugged in correctly. I called up one of my friends and he let me borrow another video card to test and I took out my 9800 GTX and plugged it in and I could get video everytime (this card didn't require any cables to power it). However this is where I get confused, while I was troubleshooting the no video problem when I turned on my pc the power was going nuts, it was going on and off and before I installed my new parts I couldn't even get it to turn on but now it's stable with this other video card which brings me to think this is a PSU issue and my graphic card isn't faulty(Can I test to see if my PSU isn't providing enough power now for my 9800 gtx?), I know I can't answer this question without testing both the PSU and the GPU on other computers but I do not have another computer to test this on right now so I'm just looking for some opinions if any of you have some. - Not a heat issue I don't think: GPU ~40c CPU ~27c Here's a picture of my PC after installing the new parts (yes i know the ram isn't matched but I fixed that already). Don't mind the wiring.. its temporary. http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?image=029dh7.jpg edit: here's a pic of the PC health status from the bios if that's even needed. http://img515.imageshack.us/my.php?image=001ap4.jpg Thanks guys. Re: No signal 9800 GTX+
the gtx+ only pulls 9 watts more than the gtx+
check the psu with a multi meter iwould run a min of 750w with the cards but you would expect a near new 700w to run it http://www.driverheaven.net/guides/testingPSU/ set it up out of the case on a piece of cardboard with cpu video ram speaker and see if you get post check you have the correct amount of standoffs no more no less that they line up with the holes in the m/board usually 9

Re: No signal 9800 GTX+
since I can't edit my post I'll make another post, I didn't notice the newegg links weren't working if it even matters.
