9800 GTX+ SSC vs HD 4870 or 4850????
I'm a n3wb i know but please help. I'm curios if this EVGA can hold up to this ASUS card for gaming?
Also how dependable is that heatsink/fan on the Asus? - EVGA 512-P3-N878-AR GeForce 9800 GTX+ SSC Edition 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card # Chipset Manufacturer: NVIDIA # Core clock: 792MHz # Stream Processors: 128 # Memory Clock: 2304MHz # DirectX: DirectX 10 # OpenGL: OpenGL 2.1 # HDMI: 1 via Adapter # DVI: 2 # Model #: 512-P3-N878-AR # Item #: N82E16814130386 - ASUS EAH4870/HTDI/512M/A Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card # Chipset Manufacturer: ATI # Core clock: 750MHz # Stream Processors: 800 Stream Processing Units # Memory Clock: 3.6GHz (900MHz DDR5) # DirectX: DirectX 10.1 # OpenGL: OpenGL 2.1 # HDMI: 1 via DVI to HDMI adaptor # DVI: 2 # Model #: EAH4870/HTDI/512M/A # Item #: N82E16814121276 Last edited by Mongol; 11-06-2008 at 12:00 PM. |

Re: 9800 GTX+ SSC vs HD 4870 or 4850????
i had the 4850. 1 word: HORRIBLE COOLING. it just so happens that i replaced it with a 9800 and havent had any problems since. the heatsink on the 9800 is very reliable, because instead of just drawing the heat out of the card, it also uses a system that pushes the heat out of the case completly. lifetime warranty on mine too. (i have the evga)

The HD4870 is faster but for my money the 9800GTX+ is dependable and the EVGA card has a life time warranty just make sure you register the card on the EVGA web site plus you can't beat the support if you should need it.

Re: 9800 GTX+ SSC vs HD 4870 or 4850????
awsome guys extra thanks on an honest answer.
The heat was a major worry for me and most data i've been finding tonight stated their life span isnt that great. So besides risking it the evga appears to be like wrench97 stated dependable and lifetime warranty :) |
