Extreme Monitor Flickering Part II
Heres an update from a post I made back in April which can be found here...
Extreme Monitor Flickering Alright so I have a Compaq Presario SR1103WM machine that runs Onboard Intel 82845G graphics controller. The motherboard is an MS-6577 4.1 When I plug in my monitor and boot up windows, as soon as it gets to the log in screen the monitor starts to flicker like crazy, almost as if its struggling to display something. I can log in because it blanks in and out, but when I get to my desktop the flickering becomes more and more extreme depending on whats going on (i.e: open an application or drag windows around) If I do nothing and don't touch the mouse it is fine, only when i try to do something does it flicker. So I have another video card that I use that's really old. Cirrus Logic 5430/5440 is what its called and it only runs in 800x600...This video card doesn't make the screen flicker at all, BUT I can't really do much because it cant handle a lot and it will make my system lock up, this is what I've been using the past few years. Here are the things I've tried... -Downloaded all latest drivers and system updates -Switched out monitors to make sure the problem existed only in my system, both monitors flickered. -Reinstalled windows/formatted hard drive -Made sure all connections were secure I've done about everything I can think of. I bought a new video card it was an ATI Radeon PCI card and tried to put it in the pci slot and when I tried to hook the monitor up to it the darn thing started flickering just like the on board card was doing! does this make any sense to anyone? I'm running out of options...I'd really like to get my on board card to work so i can run better resolution and not have system lock ups like I do... So The on board card flickers...any new video cards i install via PCI slots makes the screen flicker...could it be a MoBo problem? if so is there ANYTHING at all I can do? please help!! It's like my system only wants to run on 800x600 and anything higher than that it just freaks out on me .this Isn't that old of a pc..if you need any additional details let me know...thanks.. |

Re: Extreme Monitor Flickering Part II
I checked out the links that you showed me but they are a bit on the expensive side. I found a cheaper alternative could you tell me if it would be compatible with my system? If so, I'll order it. Thanks.
