Booting up Issues - Video Card?

Alright here's the story.

Thursday night I came to my computer and found that it was turned off. I tried turning it on, tried unplugging and replugging in, and other various diagnostics. Computer would not turn on at all, no power. I tried throwing my power supply into another computer that i have in the house, and nothing happened. So i basically found out that the power supply was done.

I ordered another, better, one than my factory installed power supply. Arrived yesterday and last night I installed it

Computer turns on, but is giving me all sorts of problems. It loads up with the HP splash screen, then when the OS is supposed to boot up (the windows logo with the scrolling bar), I get a blinking "_" on my screen. I tried all sorts of things, making sure every cable was properly and plugged into all the hardware in my computer, espeically the hard drive. Nothing worked.

Finally I thought of taking out my video card (BFG nVidia 7900 GTOC) and put the factory installed video card back in (Nvidia 7300 LE). Computer boot up just fine, was able to get to windows desktop and do whatever it is i wanted.

Here's the issue..The 7900 GTOC works just fine in any other computer I throw it into, so I'm 10 different kinds of confused at the moment as to what to do.

I tried taking it out a bunch of times, messing with how the card fit, trying different cables, etc. Finally, I get the computer to go from the blinking "_", to going to the boot screen that asks u for safe mode, etc. But whenever i make a selection, the computer just shuts off. Does not happen with my 7300. HELPP!!!! Thanks in advance guys :)

Re: Booting up Issues - Video Card?

Well before I had a 350 watt power supply with 18A on the 12V rail and it worked fine. When i ordered this PSU i went to newegg and used their PSU calculator and basically ordered what they gave me. Its 450 watts and 21A on the 12V rail.

Re: Booting up Issues - Video Card?

If you can recommend a different PSU then awesome. Keep in mind im on a really tight budget so I can't spend a fortune on a new PSU
