Re: 8800 GT 512 Mb vs 1GB

For either 8800 card you will want at least a 650w Quality psu.
Seasonic - any model
Corsair - any model
Thermaltake - "Toughpower" series only
Coolermaster - "Real Power Pro" series only
PC Power & Cooling - any model
Silverstone - any model

Re: 8800 GT 512 Mb vs 1GB

i got a 550w psu and i run a 8800GT without any problems without going over voltages. If i were you id get a 700w psu and 9800 if you want to do future gaming.

Re: 8800 GT 512 Mb vs 1GB

hi guys, thanx a lot 4 all the feedback. well actually i got 9800 Gt 512 Mb. didnt change my PSU though. it claims it can deliver 'upto' 450 W,

whereas the minimum requirement for my 9800 GT is 450 w. So far its running smoothly. touchwood. by the way how can i know if my PSU is pumping up enouf watts..? The 9800 GT temp is within normal after playing crysis for 2 hours in max resolution.....?

AMD athlon 64 X2 ,3GB RAM, 160 GB seagate, Palit 9800 GT 512 MB.

Re: 8800 GT 512 Mb vs 1GB

Up to 450w is way too small your running the power supply over it's limits it's a matter of time until it goes bad and when it does it may not just be the power supply that goes
For the GT you need to running a 650w.
