[SOLVED] No screen - please help!!

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a Asus StrikerII 790i ultra mobo and some ddr3 1333 as well as a thermaltake xaser VI with inbuilt watercooling from a friend and i added parts from my old computer, namely an E6600, 8800GTS 640, 2 hard drives and a blu ray plyer.

However I cant get a picture on any screen. I have tried switching out the GPU's to no effect, I've played about with the RAM and still nothing. The machine comes on and all the fans come on and all the mobo lights but theres just no picture on screen whatsover.

I know the new parts were working just a matter of hours before I installed my system on it and the mobo and ram never left the case.

I have also cleared the cmos.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. My PSU is a thermaltake toughpower 650watt

Hello there...
Unplug all components and leave just CPU, one stick of RAM and graphi card on Motherboard...
Try same thing by switching GPU's and RAM sticks...
Let us know about progress...

Re: No screen - please help!!

Hi vladimir!!

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have already done these things and I still have no screen. I have also switched monitors, using a philips 26" HDTV, a Sony 42" hdtv and a 17" neovo monitor.

I'm quite worried and do not know about warranty for 2nd hand parts.

Hello again...
Hmmmm...
You said you have played with RAM...
Does your Motherboard has double RAM slots ---- DDR2 + DDR3????
You can try plugging DDR2 RAM...
Are you sure that your PSU is 100% fine???
maybe you should try with different PSU just to be sure, like borrow it from a friend who sold these parts to you...
keep su posted...

Re: No screen - please help!!

Unfortunately for me my board has only got ddr3 slots so I cant try out any DDR 2.

Also switching out my PSU is a no-no at the minute as I have no access to a replacement and my friend is out of town.

Would there be any other way of testing out the power supply?

Re: No screen - please help!!

heya again...
Check this thread:

Power Supply Information and Selection

Our team made a great thread about PSUs...

I am not sure what could be a cause of your problems...
Im not experienced with water cooling, better we wait till someone else post some possible solutions...

Could you remember what CPU you friend has with this Motherboard???
The best way is to wait for your friend to come back and check if you can start PC with his CPU and PSU...
Maybe you have damaged Motherboard while you transport case...
I say 'maybe' because PSU could be the problem or non-compatible DDR3 RAM with yoir other components or CPU and you need to update BIOS...

I must say lots of problems could be the cause so we should wait for other people to post their opinion...

Re: No screen - please help!!

EDIT: My PSU is a coolermaster eXreme Power 650w.

I have no idea why i thought it was a thermaltake toughpower.

Re: No screen - please help!!

Hey again...
Hmmm... Only good model from thermaltake is toughpower, but since you have 8800GTS which is not too much power consuming graphic card, you should be able to run system...
But, just to make sure I would try with more powerful PSU...

Re: No screen - please help!!

If you remove the RAM, does the motherboard speaker beep? (If it doesn't have one, put one on it).

No beep, check mobo

if it does beep, check RAM (speed) compatiability

Using said speaker, does the system audibly POST?
