[SOLVED] Video tearing and lines with ASUS Radeon 4850 HD

Hey guys. Any insight you can give into this would be wonderful.

Bought two 4850's, installed them, and noticed some issues. Everything seems to blur ever so slightly while moving (more so than another computer with a much lesser card), edges are distorted and shake when I move in games, and if I shift left or right while next to certain light/dark sources, I see a vertical intermitent line across my screen flash just to the side of where the source was.

I am using an ASUS P5Q motherboard, 8500 dual core, and 4 GB of OCZ ram. All my drivers are up to date, I am using V sync (which helped immensly but did not resolve the problem,) and have tried both cards seperately and in crossfire. In all cases the blur and distortion remains. Changing to narrow tent/ wide tent has also had no effect (or a negative one).

I picked up a gtx 9800 to see if the issue still persisted, and it did. This leads me to believe that something is wrong with my mobo or drivers. I did a driver cleanup using cc driver and reinstalled, but still experienced the problem. Also ran a memtest for good measure, which found no problems. My chipset and BIOS are up to date, so I feel like the number of avenues I have left to test is pretty low.

What other things might I try to fix this problem? I have tried using virtually all the CCC (display adaptor) settings but to no effect. About the last thing I can think to try is formatting all of my HDs and installing windows again. Any thoughts or ideas guys?

Re: Video tearing and lines with ASUS Radeon 4850 HD

with 2 4850's you need to be up in the 850/1000w range
but it should have run the 9800gtx
reinstall the drivers and see where your at
in the device manager uninstall the video card
reboot tapping f8 and choose vga mode
when windows finishes rebooting
disable a/virus
install your drivers
reboot the computer

Re: Video tearing and lines with ASUS Radeon 4850 HD

After some further investigation, it turn out that the monitor I had recently switched to was the culprit- as soon as I switched it out the problem vanished. Thanks for the help!
