Bottle-necked
will i bottle-neck my system by putting a pci-e 2.0 x16 in a pci-e x16 slot? i've heard people say that the current cards will and won't so im a bit confused on this one.

Technically you would be bottlenecking the card that you put in. But there really isn't much visual/noticeable difference between pci-e x16 and 2.0. There's technically 10% or so difference in speed with 2.0 then x16. But post specs anyways.

system specs are as follows:
CPU = AMD 64 x2 5600+ Motherboard = Asus M2NPV-VM - has am2 socket and pci-e x16 PSU = 620W Corsair the card i want to put in is a Nvidia 9800gt P.S. do current games use the full bandwidth of a pci-e x16 connection? Last edited by mikeyh; 10-18-2008 at 07:52 PM. |
