OS: Gonna buy a new PC...

Suprised Video Card Help

Hi!

I was planning on buying a new PC (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Compa...oductDetail.do). One of the main purposes I was going to use it for was to play high-end games. I'm on a low budget, so I thought this would probably be my best choice (say otherwise if you disagree). I was also going to buy this RAM with the PC (http://crucial.com/store/mpartspecs....80341CA5CA7304) because most users recommend at least 2 GB of RAM to use a Windows Vista Home Premium efficiently and effectively. To get to the point, I was wondering if I should buy either a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT/GTS or a 8800 GTS or a ATI Radeon 2600 Pro. My research has concluded to the following video cards of choice (though you may choose otherwise):

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...453&CatId=1558
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...460&CatId=1558

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS:

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS:

ATI Radeon 2600 Pro:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...536&CatId=1558

If you have any recommendations on other video cards or have a recommendation on one of the video cards I have mentioned, feel free to post what you think (or a link to a particular video card).

And for my final question, what PSU would you recommend for me to get based on the video card you recommend?

I know this is a BIG mouthful , but if you have some extra time, have a kick at it!

Cheers,
Joe

Re: Video Card Help

Well the stock powersupply in that cmputer won't support any 8800 , or the 8600 gts because they require a 6 pin pci-e plugs. And forget about the 2600 pro , the 2600 xt is only a few bucks more and is much faster. I would say the best for you would be a ddr3 version of either the 8600 gt or the 2600 xt with 512mb.

Re: Video Card Help

Personally I would avoid an ATI card in that system because the HP website lists it using an NVIDIA chipset-based motherboard:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...roduct=3740345

If you have enough money to upgrade the PSU check out this sticky: Power Supply Information and Selection

Go with a 600W and grab yourself an 8800GT.
