Video card not being read

Last night, I opened System Shock 2, and it said my graphics card wasn't compatible. The problem is, I'd played the game earlier that day. I tried other games; GTA3 says it requires at least 12 megs of video memory, but also used to work, Grim Fandango shows the load screen and then crashes, Diablo just crashes once it opens...the only games that will open are Unreal Tournament and Cave Story.
I didn't introduce any new software or hardware in between one play of System Shock and the other, so I have no idea what's going on. I've tried restarting the computer, leaving it overnight...but nothing's happening.
Also to note, this same thing happened two days ago, but seemed to correct itself a few hours later, so I thought nothing of it. This isn't self-correcting, though, so now I'm really concerned.
I'm running Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2, and I have a stock Intel card, I think it's x8 or x9.

Post all hardware specs, including power supply wattage and brand.
