Confused d101 compatible vga cards

i own a d101ggc motheboard with 2.66 P4 + 512 sd ram. i wanna buy 9600 gt nvidia card but ppl tell me that my pc configuration is slow and the card will not give its full performance on this pc. i wanna play Assasin's Creed and the upcoming TombRaider-Underworld.

Q1. is t true that the card will not give its full performance on this pc?
Q2. what is the bottle neck? p4, sd ram or d101?
Q3. what other vgacard options do i have?

Re: d101 compatible vga cards

It won't work at all because it's requires a PCI-Express slot.

Re: d101 compatible vga cards

dear ebackhus,
d101gc has pci express x1 and x16 slots. so it will fit. my question is:
comparing the bus speed of d101 and its ddr2/ddr3 handling capacity, will it be able to run 9600gt at its full potential or will d101 become a bottle neck? if yes, why so? (im an engineer my self so wanna know y?). thx

Re: d101 compatible vga cards

You sure it has those? A motherboard that uses SD-RAM will simply not have PCI-Express slots. Unless you mean DDR SD-RAM, then it might but even then it can be unlikely.

Re: d101 compatible vga cards

Hmm it does have PCI-Express.

The CPU will be the bottleneck in this case, not by much, but it'll still be there. Honestly, a new board that can support the Core series of CPUs would be the best path unless you're really attached to this PC or have limited funds.
