resolution changing software
Hi everyone :)
I have an AOC monitor and an XFX GeForce 8600 vid card. My problem is that my monitor doesnt have a 1024*768 setting by default.I was using a software for the purpose of enabling the 1024*768 resolution but recently I somehow lost it from the puter, and I cant remember the program's name,so I am hoping that someone here would remember the name and kindly post it. As far as I remember,it was a program related to the vid card, but I am not absolutely sure.If someone remembers, please do post the name.Tyvm for taking the time to read the post. |

Re: resolution changing software
Thank you for the reply sir,but I'm afraid that is not the program I am looking for- I d/lded it and checked it. I tried the "manage custom resolutions" section in the Nvidia control panel but I cant create a custom resolution of 1024*768 :( I have searched the net but I havent found the program yet. Hoping that someone will remember the name.
Maybe its a third party software that forces the monitor to display resolutions that are not inherently supported?*not sure* Btw if I might add a question, nforce is the graphics driver, right?what is nvidia detonator? Last edited by corsair; 10-02-2008 at 11:50 AM. |

Re: resolution changing software
The Detonator drivers where from about 6 or 7 years ago It's what they used to call their driver package. I think they were the original Geforce 2 drivers.
Could the program your looking for been software that came with your monitor? |

Re: resolution changing software
Thank you for responding, sir, and the explanation. No sir, the software was not bundled with my monitor which has only 3 settings-800*600,960*600 and 1280*720.I was trying to play Anno 1701 which kept giving me a "could not initialize direct3d" error and after some search I ended up with a program that created some more resolutions including 1024*768 in the settings tab which I could change in the usual way,but foolishly,I did not make a backup copy of the program. And changing to 1024*768 cured the direct3d error message! I am searching the net using different words but no luck yet :( I just need a program which will enable me to force the monitor into the 1024*768 res. (I have seen a command line utility but that isnt the proggie I'm looking for,me being scared of command line stuff.) Hopefully someone will come up with a name *fingers crossed*

Re: resolution changing software
I'm not familiar with the program in which you are looking for. However, might rivatner have been it? I believe it doies custom resolutions.
