Angry HD4870 CF Problem

First of all thank you all for reading this.

I got 2 Asus HD4870 that are hard rebooting with out any error code in Crysis and Warhammer online to name a few ( they last from anywhere too 1 min to 2 hours ). my 2D desktop is running perfect. I'm not overclocking anything yet.

Here are my Specs.

CPU - Intel E9550 2.66GHz Quad
Motherboard - Asus P5E
PSU - Zalman 850 Watt
Video - Dual Asus ATI HD4870 512 MB
RAM - DDR2 1066 MHz 2 GB x 2 (forgot brand sorry, i have tested the ram so not worryed)
Im using CCC 8.9, also running a 24 Inch Acer screen running at 1920X1200

Now before anyone suggests anything, i would like to make it clear that i haven't just turned up on this forum and asked the question,i have been troubleshooting this for about a week now, hoping to find someone with the same problem. However no luck =(.

I'm going to make a list of stuff i have seen on other forums and tryed.

Changed Fan speed to 60 % - Temps at 50 - 55 C max, CPU 24 C (amazing how little heat these quads make)
12V rail - always at 12V - 12.1V
Updated Motherboard Bios, and every other driver i can find.
Reinstalled XP

Running each video cards by itself makes things interesting. One likes to make a checker board patten and Freezes and the other just likes rebooting, while both of them swapped around still reboots. Made me think **** maybe its my motherboard. so i tryed my old 8600GT but no reboot on that, then again that will not compair to the 4870.

Now i have tryed both the cards on my old AMD 5000 + System, one card works find however 1 card still checkerboards, So now the question is why are they both rebooting in my main system, i work at a local PC shop and know the basics to hardware installation, i don't have these problems at work ! then again we don't deal with high end gear at work.

Anyway you will be sick of reading at this point so thank you for your time and any reply will be greatly appreciated.

Well after a bit of a hunt around i have just worked out its my motherboard.

I for some reason left some of the old nivida card drivers on my old rig, just ran both cards on it fine once i took them out. i will RMA the motherboard tomorrow.

Thankyou all who viewed/helped me.
