Reformatted PC not booting after video card drivers installed
Hi clever computer people
![]() Please help, my computer had been giving me the sh*ts for awhile- rebooting with no warning (usually while the kids were on it - go figure lol) so i guessed reformatting would be a good idea (systems about 18 months old - bought 2nd hand ex-gov reconditoned - had a few viruses caught and plenty of spyware wiped - def time to reformat i suppose) So I backed up all my drivers (later to find minus my intel chipset ones - got them later hoping that would fix it but nup) and proceeded to delete the partion and put on xp pro (was just xp before) All went fine updating the drivers from disc after reformatting, until i rebooted. Now it won't boot - unless i go into safe mode and use system restore to go back 2 before putting the video card drivers in) After many many tries at fixing it and hunting google 4 answers (im realizing its likely the video card im not that smart) i've joined your lovely forum in hope of an easy solution... thanks in advance ![]() ps - i guess system specs would be handy .. Intel Pent 4 dual processor (shrugs - system says 2.6ghz and 2.59 ghz) 1G ram vid card - radeon pro 9600 pro (has 2 entries in device manager - one with secondary- i guess thats the one that plugs into the tv? - yeah im hopeless lol) I think there should be a lot more info here .. don't hesitate to ask and I will find! Thanks again Karyn |

Re: Reformatted PC not booting after video card drivers installed
The first thing I would do is wipe the drive with killdisk, free download
do a google. When you format with xp it leaves alot of garbage on the drive, including viruses. Then format and install xp. After xp install find and install chipset drivers, "mobo" drivers. If you need drivers for anything go to manufacturers website and get the proper drivers. I never use system restore, pretty useless imho. What power supply do you have? wattage and brand,,

Re: Reformatted PC not booting after video card drivers installed
Click on the link you provided, look to the left, and select driver
download. I dont see your problem. Theres even a option to have it done automatically. I would still wipe the whole thing and start over.
