PNY Geforce 8500GT on a 250W PSU
I have it plugged in and it seems to be running fine but if this computer is a very light use will it cause any problems.
EDIT: I guess the required PSU is 300W. So I'm just wondering if running it 50W under if there will be any ill effects. |

Re: PNY Geforce 8500GT on a 250W PSU
Yes there can be affects, it may not be shown at first, but it will kill the computer faster. A video card like yours is defently power demanding and to get the best out of it, you need that power. I would go even a little higher than 300W since it can't hurt to have more, only less. I also had a factory hp desktop, very basic and it used 250W psu so I'm not sure how you are getting your computer to work off that.

Re: PNY Geforce 8500GT on a 250W PSU
A PCIE_x16 cards needs 26 amps on the 12v rail if the PSU has multi rails you need to increase the wattage because 1 rail will be dedicated to the CPU and you want to run in the 60-80% load range to keep heat down so your really looking at a minimum closer to 550w-600w in a quality unit
