Video Card Problem
Hey.
The graphics card I am currently running on is the default I got from my computer years ago. It is the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 with the Pentium 4 Processor I found out that it was finally getting out of date when I tried to play Team Fortress 2 and I needed a card that used DX9 I went out and bought a PNY NVIDIA GeForce 6200 AGP I installed it without any problems and everything worked out great. I had this card working great for about a week and when I was playing World of Warcraft, all of the sudden everything went blue and blurry. I shut off my computer and when I restarted it, everything was all jumbled and just blah. I had to take it out and put in my old one and restore my comp to before I got that card. I would like to know, did it over-heat and die? I had it on the same settings as my old card. One of my friends told me it was my Power Supply, that I needed to upgrade to 400W I think..I haven't checked what I am currently using but I believe it is 300W. I really hope my card didn't burn and that it was just the wattage but I was able to use it fine for about a week. I really hope I didn't waste 100 bucks on this card for nothing. Please Help. Thanks Last edited by Cozzy; 09-28-2008 at 04:05 PM. |

Re: Video Card Problem
What is the brand of power supply, is it old? Power supplys falter with
age, like alot of things. Even with that p4, running a agp card 300watts is cutting it real thin, especially if the psu is older. Running underpowered will fry components., more so imho than power spikes.

Re: Video Card Problem
Ok, sorry for not responding soon. I just found some time.
I checked my Power Supply at I have a 200W. My comp is like 5 years old. I can tell that's bad. Should I go get a 400W? and I must no...will my Graphics Card work after I replace my Power Supply? Or did it fry and is now useless.. |

Re: Video Card Problem
400watt quality psu will probably be ok. Its any ones guess if you
fried the vid card. 50/50 on that. Be sure when buying the psu that you have at least 18amps on the 12volt rail/rails. Minimum for agp cards.
