evga 9800 gx2

bought a evga 9800 gx2 graphics card the other day then found out need new power supply so bought a antec e_650 power supply but installed it and now my pc will not power up, have connected both power leads the six pin and the eight pin like it says. can anyone tell me if the problem is my power supply or not, it does work ok with old graphics card, barry.

that's because the psu you bought does not have enough power

it says on the instructions for the graphics card must be at least 580 watts the one i bought is a 650 watt so thought that was anough

what about the rest of the components,they also need power
usually if you add approx 60% to the recommended for the video card it will be pretty close to what you need in most cases
