[SOLVED] Where to get replacement capactiors
I just recently got some help from this forum regarding some ingame freezes and came to the conclusion that my video card was overheating. I was completely and utterly wrong. I found out today that about 4 of the capacitors on my video card decided to break their seals and stop working on me. I was wondering if anyone would know where to get new capacitors. The capacitors have some markings on the top but I don't know what they stand for to buy new ones. Here's what the top looks like
-------- | FZ6B | | 1500 | | 6.3v | -------- I already figured the 6.3v stood for 6.3 volts, but as for the 1500 I have no idea. If anyone could help me in replacing these, it would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Where to get replacement capactiors
The 1500 probably means 1500 microfarads. It probably should be a low ESR capacitor (equivalent series resistance). Assuming it's a standard electrolytic capacitor (it's cylindrical with two wires sticking out on the circuit board end of the capacitor) you can dig something like that up anywhere but I think www.mouser.com has no minimum order.
Something like one of these which matches your size (I hope that search is still working five minutes from now). |

Re: Where to get replacement capactiors
Thanks man. That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank god I decided to take a caliper to it last night and get the measurements. I really appreciate the help.
*EDIT*I think it's safe to say you can mark this one as solved. Thanks again for the help*END EDIT* |

Re: Where to get replacement capactiors
Oh, and in case you don't know: this kind of capacitor definititely does not like being soldered in backwards. The wire closest to the "+" symbol is the positive terminal and the other is the negative. Keep track of where the "+" symbol appears on the original capacitor and make sure to align the new one the same way.
