Flickering graphics in XP & Mac Card in PC

Hi Folks,
I've been having a problem recently where the graphics in windows have been flickering, with artifacts appearing around the screen.
Now it's got to the stage where every 10 seconds or so the screen flicks to black for a couple of seconds then goes back. Seems to happen when certain events occur, like right-click menu appears or when copying a file and the little animation is running.

I did a completely fresh install of windows, and that didn't help, so i think it's the graphics card that's faulty. It's quite old (NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X (128 MB)) so maybe it's just run its course and thats it at the end of its life.

Anyway, to be sure that's the problem, i want to test another graphics card, but since no-one i spoke to has an AGP card to loan me, i've borrowed a mates ATI card (not sure what type). Problem is it's out of a Mac.
Will i be able to plug this straight into my pc, or will i need to do anything else first?

Also, if anyone has had similar problems to what i'm experiencing and knows what the issue is, any help there would be great too.

Thanks a lot,
Ronan.

Re: Flickering graphics in XP & Mac Card in PC

I just found out from ATI website that the card is :
RADEON 9000 64MB DDR AGP DVI-I ADC MAC

Will this work in a PC under XP? I don't need it to do anything special... just so I can check if the flickering problem has gone away.

Thanks for any help!

Ronan.
