Help Me! - Problems in Catalyst

I have one of my 3870 x2s installed. The card is correctly installed into the computer, and I have installed the latest 8.8 drivers for it. Whenever i try to access the catalyst, and at bootup, it gives me this message. NO ATI GRAPHICS DRIVER IS INSTALLED, OR THE ATI DRIVER IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. PLEASE INSTALL THE ATI DRIVER APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR ATI HARDWARE. In an attempt to fix the problem, I have erased the catalyst and drivers about 8 times, and then re-installed it, using both the 8.8 catalyst, and the 8.7. Why Isnt the catalyst working????

Re: Help Me! - Problems in Catalyst

Have you installed the .NET Framework? This is required for Catalyst to work. (not needed by the driver, just Catalyst Control Center)

Re: Help Me! - Problems in Catalyst

Hi, Tchesco
Do you have the card installed in the Primary PCIe slot? (Check your motherboard manual).
Have you tried the drivers you received on disc?
Do you have the .Net Framework installed?

http://game.amd.com/us-en/site_map.aspx

Also check your BIOS is set to boot using PCIe.

Re: Help Me! - Problems in Catalyst

Yes, I have checked all of those factors. The thing is, it worked fine for about 2 days, and after that was when it stopped. I don't know how this could have happened....

Did you download any Windows Updates just before it happened?
You can check this in Add/Remove Programs.

Re: Help Me! - Problems in Catalyst

Hi, Tchesco
Strange to work for a couple of days then stop with no hardware or software changes.
The message is also strange; like the card is not recognised properly. Try turning off the Cool'n'Quiet, see if it makes a difference.

Have you tried the other card on it's own or in the other blue slot? Have you tried Crossfire?
Tried updating the BIOS? (Looking at the forum this board has had some probs; it also apparently has hidden settings that can be accessed by pressing F4)

Re: Help Me! - Problems in Catalyst

Sorry to hijack the post, but I'm also receiving this message. I'm using an older Dell Dimension 8200 with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. I've tried updating to the Catalyst 8.8 drivers with no success and I've tried downloading some earlier drivers from the ATI site. I've gone into the system device manager and disabled and then enabled the card and it seems to work until I reboot the system.

I'm still searching this forum for answers - but in the meantime, if you guys can be of any help I know we'd both appreciate it.

Re: Help Me! - Problems in Catalyst

Ok I think I know what the problem is now. I used my older Nvidia 9600 GT on the same PCI slot, and everything worked fine. What I think this means, is that somewhere, there is a corrupt catalyst file, or ati driver that is malfuctioning. I think the only option for me to do is reformat my hard drive, but im not completely sure yet.
