Getting a black screen with ATI Radeon x1650 Pro
I bought an ATI Radeon x1650 Pro with AGP slot and installed it onto my computer, which is a Sony VAIO PCV-RS620G running Windows XP Media Center Edition. i followed all the instructions, such as uninstalling the old video card driver and such. But now whenever I boot up the computer, the VAIO and Intel logos which are shown at the beginning are miscolored, and whenever I play certain games, the monitor suddenly goes black, and nothing I do save for a hard-shutdown gets rid of it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video card twice, and still the same results. Can anybody help with this?

Re: Getting a black screen with ATI Radeon x1650 Pro
you should install Catalyst 8.3 driver suite or higher but maybe not catalyst 8.8 or 8.7 since I had crash with both on my AGP card. Catalyst 8.3 was the most proven stable on my computer.

What power supply do you have >Brand and Model or total amps on the 12v rail(s)
Do you have the Aux power cable hooked to the card? |

Re: Getting a black screen with ATI Radeon x1650 Pro
as for the aux power cord, yes i have it plugged in, else it wouldn't work in the first place. not sure about the exact type of power supply, it's whatever comes standard with the PCV-RS620G, since i never changed it.

Re: Getting a black screen with ATI Radeon x1650 Pro
Pull the side cover off the PC and have a look at the label you need at least 18 amps on the 12v rail and 450w total to run that card I doubt the Vaio came with more then about a 250w power supply.
