Video freezes audio remains reboot
Hello again TSF
My problem today is this: I was playing a game (lineage2) normally lalalalala then suddenly screen goes black, i keep on hearing the audio of the game for about 15-20 seconds and then audio starts skipping and the only way to get pc back is unplugging it from the power (tried rebooting, holding down power, holding down reboot). I waited for it to cool down and turned it on again after opening case and noticing nothing different and nothing on the video card. I started playing another game and the same thing happened~. My video card is this XFX 7900gs 256mb My friend bought the same exact video card with me back in January 2007 when we bought out PCs. His video card gave him the same problem like 2 months ago and he ended up buying a new one. I have the latest drivers (it ran perfectly with them ever since i got them), running XP pro, first video problem I've had since i bought it. Has it gone bad? Maybe its overheating? I have 1 front1 back 120mm fans, one side 80mm fan and the PSU has 120mm fan and 80mm in it. Don't wanna try any games now because It will probably do the same. Thanks in advance for your help!!!! Lolo |

Re: Video freezes audio remains reboot
Hi,
Did you install any new games/software or windows updates just previous to this problem arising? Or any hardware? Any of the above can mess with your video drivers. Best to uninstall the drivers completely from Add/Remove Programs, restart in VGA Mode, disable anti-virus or any other non-windows applications or services and do a fresh install. If you need clearer step-by-step instructions, just ask. |

Re: Video freezes audio remains reboot
Hello hounddog777,
thanks for the fast reply, I have not installed any of the above mentioned. The games I played I have been playing for quite some time now. I'm gonna do that fresh install and then post back, thanks Lolo |
