Baffling Video/Monitor Problem

So I was fixing a computer for a friend of mine. Basically formatted and reinstalled XP for her. Never had an issue during installing updates and drivers. So I delivered it back to her house and show her everything was working.

So the next day she turns it on and the BIOS splash screen comes up and goes away but then nothing happens. The computer is still on but it's just a blank screen.

After watching it do this, I'm at a loss what could be causing it. After the bios splash screen the button on the monitor blinks orange (like it's going to standby) but then back to green and stays green.

I initially thought it was the monitor but it can't be since it shows the splash screen perfectly. The only other thing I can think of is the video output on the motherboard...but then why would the splash screen show and nothing else??

Any input on this? Thanks.

Re: Baffling Video/Monitor Problem

Oh, and I even tried putting in a XP cd to see what would happen. When the computer boots up with the cd in it gives me the "push any key to boot from cd..." so I push something. Then it starts to load the CD and I get the usual XP text that says something like "Please wait while setup is initalized..." or whatever the message is. But then the screen goes blank like usual when it should be going to the blue windows install screens.

Re: Baffling Video/Monitor Problem

It's a Gateway computer. It's not mine so I don't know the mobo specifics. The video is integrated. Nothing else has been changed.

No error messages, button on monitor blinks orange and then just nothing.
