8800 GT Defective?
Well, me and my buddy recently did a full upgrade to our computers. We both got the same parts except for the CPU and cooling. He got a Core 2 Duo 2.5 ghz with a coolermaster and I got a 3 ghz core 2 (e8400) with a Zalman.
His computer is running completely fine, but my computer is not. I can run games but after a little but of runtime my computer will loop the last noise and I will lose signal on my monitor. The runtime changes from 1 hour to several hours. I have a: E8400 stock CPU OCZ 700W PSU P5K SE Mobo Patriot 800 mhz DDR2 XFX 8800 GT I run Prime95 and my CPU won't jump past 56C and my GPU will stay around 50C. Could I possibly have a defective video card? |

Re: 8800 GT Defective?
Hi Polishfly and welcome to the forum a couple of questions
What Bois version are you running currently? Do you have the part number for the memory, did you use the patriot configurer or the QVL to select it? Are you seeing anything in event manager? Vista or XP? |

Re: 8800 GT Defective?
My Bios is version 1008.
My memory is Patriot Signature DDR2 2GB (2x1GB) 800MHz PC2-6400. I dont see anything in event manager. And I am using XP. I'm also not sure what you mean by the configurer or QVL. |

Re: 8800 GT Defective?
The QVL is a Qualified Vender List put out by the motherboard manufacturer listing memory compatible with the motherboard.
The configurer can be found on the memory manufacturers web site again to match up the memory. P5k Se QVL http://www.asus.com/999/download/pro...05/1705_10.pdf Patriot Configurator http://www.patriotmem.com/configurator/index.jsp Download Memtest and burn to a CD boot to the cd with 1 stick of memory installed at a time test each stick for an hour unless you see problems right away. http://www.memtest86.com/download.html Let us know the results |

Re: 8800 GT Defective?
Yes it is good that you have solved your problem but it is a shame you must return graphic card and wait for new one...
