Need Help! I am out of ideas....

OK so my step bro has a eVGA 8600GTS and has been running ok for over a year now. BUT he recently put Oblivion on his PC and when playing that his PC would randomly shutdown and reboot (overheating assumed). So I told him to update his drivers. Somewhere around that time his PC has started randomly shutting down and rebooting on all applications, even something as simple as FireFox...

I tried redoing the drivers and adding nTune programs. His GPU is running 57C on idol...can't get it lower.

Help!???

Is there a recent restore point on the computer that you could revert back to?
