My computer is a Packard Bell istart 1369 ( the link is below)

The graphics is an intergrated chip called:

ATI radeon express 200

Note comapred to the spec on the link it says i have a 512mb ram but i have just recently upgraded to a 1GB

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

Hi, looks like you have a PCI-express x16 slot.
Means the worlds your oyster as far as video cards go, but you'll probably have to also upgrade your power supply to cope with it.
http://support.packardbell.com/uk/it...ppn=PB49303701

For Call of Duty-4.......
Recommended Specs:-
CPU: 2.4 GHz dual core or better
RAM: 1G for XP; 2G for Vista
Hard Drive: 8GB of free space
Video card: 3.0 Shader Support recommended. Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

if you want a card to last and have alot of money buy a ATI 4870 HD or a nvidia geforce 9800gtx but i would recommend you a ATI 3870HD sapphire that is much cheaper than a 4870 series and you can use ati crossfire and link two 3870 together.I've done that and i can play crysis on very high detail and i've spend just 130€.

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

Hi there thanks for your replies. I was told to get a 400w PSU to cope with the graphics card is this true and also im a student and only have a part time job so not looking for anything too expensive. However will this card be ok to have if i upgrade my psu to a 400w?

Geforce 7200gs

Thanks for your replies

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

No , stay away from nvidia cards. Your on board is an ati and an nvidia card will play havoc with the drivers. So stick with ati.

If you don't want to upgrade your power supply go with an ati 2400 or 3450. But if you want to upgrade your power supply then post your budget for the card and power supply and we will find you a quality combo.

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

Not trying to sound tight but like i said i only have a part time job so for the card no more than 30 and for the PSU the same.

I have found good deals on ebay.

Thanks for your replies

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

Hi,
Careful now with eBay.........make sure the Seller has good feedback and states in the listing that the item is working perfectly.

I played CoD Modern Warfare with a 430W Hiper PSU, GeForce 7600GS and 1GB of RAM with no problems. All parts bought from eBay and second-hand!!!!!

If you go with an ati 2400 or 3450 , you wont need to upgrade the psu.

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

That card is low profile , is your case low profile? Also there not very expensive to buy new, and would be better then ebay. And look for a 512mb version 256 won't be very good.

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

No , get one with its own 512mb of ram. And yes it will work w/o a powersupply upgrade as its a low end card. Heres one thats new.

Re: Best Graphics card for my computer

It won't run on high , maybe a mix of medium and low. Obviously because its a low end card that doesnt need a powersupply.

But yes the 2400 is capable of playing it.
