New ATI card isn't saving colour settings

This morning I uninstalled my 7800 and installed a new 4850.
Nvidia drives came off without a hassle, I didn't bother installing the drivers that came with the 4850, I went to ATI's website and got the latest drives.

My monitor is quite dark, even on the highest settings, I countered this in the nvidia control panel, I've tried to do this in the Catalyst control panel, but it just doesn't want to play ball.

If I'm just playing around on the desktop, it keeps all the profile settings without any trouble, but if I try to play a game like World of Warcraft or Team Fortress 2, it's like all the colour/gamma settings get reset to default and the games are dark. I have the desktop and full screen 3D on the same settings

When I exit the games, my screen stays dark, until I open the catalyst control panel, when everything suddenly brightens up.
I'm not sure what to do anymore, I uninstalled the latest drivers and installed the 1's supplied on the CD, I've made a profile, but it doesn't seem to be working, only thing I can think of trying is doing a clean install, but I really don't want it to come to that

Re: New ATI card isn't saving colour settings

To try to get to the bottom of things, I did a format and reinstall of windows, just incase some of the nvidia drivers were still hanging about. Unfortunately, no change.

1 thing I have noticed though, is that in TF2, when i changed a graphics settings, all of a sudden the 3D colour settings kicked in, it's a partial fix, but not what you want to do everything you fire up the game

Re: New ATI card isn't saving colour settings

Did you try using the drivers that came with the card?

Re: New ATI card isn't saving colour settings

Not yet on the reinstall.

Are there any other ways/programs I can use to adjust my colour settings?

Re: New ATI card isn't saving colour settings

Well I've tried the drivers the came with the card, even went to the Asus website and got the updated drivers from them, all with no luck.

I tried another game today, I changed the gamma settings in it and all of a sudden the 3D settings I made in the control panel kicked in!
Problem being now though that the game was too bright, so I tried lowing the gamma settings in the in game options, but the 3D settings kept kicking in everytime I clicked apply.

I talked to the place I bought it from and they suggested I send it back for testing, but I'm going to hang onto it for a few more days incase I find an answer.

Re: New ATI card isn't saving colour settings

if it was an issue with ur previous card..and you said it was the monitor, you cant exactly blame the card now can you..

why not spend the £150 get a nice 22inch monitor and never have issues again?

I play TF2 and CS:S and im using the same 15inch dell from 5 year ago..super bright.. :)

try another monitor if your monitor is "dark" anyway!

perma fix..rather than editing in game gfx

Re: New ATI card isn't saving colour settings

I think I'd try the set up on a different monitor to make sure it's the card.
