8800GS vs 8800GT?

The GS is 30 cheaper and comes with COD4, is there a major difference in framerates between the two when playing COD4?

Or is it worth the extra 30 dollars but no cod4 to get the GT?

EDIT: I do know any 8800 GT would be a huge jump from my 8400GS :x. But COD4 is probably the most demanding game that i will play with the 8800GS.

Re: 8800GS vs 8800GT?

IM trying to compare this card:

GS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150295

to this card:

GT:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130359

But if the 8800gs above will run COD4 great, ill take that because that is probably the most demanding game illget.

Re: 8800GS vs 8800GT?

The GS will play COD4 just fine, The real question is do you have the power supply to run the card?

Re: 8800GS vs 8800GT?

I run it in mid to max settings on a 8600Gts, If you want to guarantee max settings go the for the 8800GT it also depends one the rest of your system, display size,`resolution, memory speed, CPU speed and motherboard.

Re: 8800GS vs 8800GT?

Ive heard going from an 8600 to an 8800 is a big leap, so will this card be playable on high detail on cod4?

These are my specs:

E8400 clocked to 3.6
2gb Ballistix 800mhz
ASUS p5k-e Motherboard
160Gb seagate sata HD
OCZ GameXstream 700W Powersupply
Antec 900 Case
XFX 8400GS

Re: 8800GS vs 8800GT?

The 4 big differences are
Core clock 550MHz 600MHz
Stream Processors 96 112
Memory Clock 1600MHz 1800MHz
Memory Size 384MB 512MB
Memory Interface 192-bit 256-bit

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130332
The memory interface will probably make the most difference on your set up.
If you can swing it I would go for the GT you have the PSU CPU and MB for it.

Starting price-$120
MIR- -30
Free COD4- -50

Re: 8800GS vs 8800GT?

I just downloaded the COD4 demo to try it out. To my surprise, it played rather nicely at 1028x768, 2x AA, no 0xAT. Medium settings. But that is on an 8400GS. Also that is probably the first time that my CPU has really been stressed. It got to 70-80% usage, and its an E8400 clocked to 3.6.
