[SOLVED] No picture.
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this, so mods, if you need to move it.....
My daughter's computer is running Windows XP Pro and recently began having problems getting a picture. The video would just shut off in the middle of her computer use. I thought it was her monitor, so tried another, which worked for about 3 seconds, then the video shut off again....kind of like when the monitor goes into energy-saver mode...the yellow light goes orange, if that makes sense. I'm thinking it may be her video card, but don't want to spend the $60 to replace it if it's an easy fix. Any ideas? TIA. |

Re: No picture.
Hello Dai, and thank you for answering.
Her computer is as follows: Video card: On-board CPU: AMD Athlon MP 1.00 GHz Motherboard: PC Chips M863G 5.1 RAM: 512MB DDR 333 mhz (in the form of two 256mb strips) Power Supply: Brand: Not sure, there isn't a brand name on it, however there is a model number LPJ2-20 and a serial number #0604170412 Wattage: 400W No error messages that I can see. I don't know how to check my temperatures in the bios....I don't have video.... When I googled the model number for the power supply, I read somewhere that the brand might be Linkworld. TIA! :) Edited to add: I do have another power supply here in my possession that I could switch the old one out with. It's a Bestec ATX-250-12E (250 watt), however, I'm not sure if that's recommended to switch down to a lower watt power supply. Last edited by Quasimodo : 07-18-2008 at 12:31 PM. |

Re: No picture.
try the bestec it appears that the 400w is actually a 200w that can peak at 400w
so the bestec is probably more powerful anyway see if you can get hold of a quality 300-350w to put in it one of your friends may have one they no longer use
