Screen blacking out on startup issue
Hello, my computer has just now started acting up after a few years of solid use. About two days ago I replaced my fan and haven't seen any problems since then. However, this morning when I went to turn on my computer upon loading up my desktop my screen simply blacked out and I was unable to do anything. Everywhere from the start-up up to this point is fine. I decided to shutdown and take a look at the computer, I dusted out a few things and tried to start up again.
This time around I recieved a System failed VGA check message. I shut down once more, reseated the video card, and all was well again. I got up to the start-up and once again screen blacks out. I have an ASUS A8N SLI mobo and the card is a XFX GeForce 6800. The issue of the power supply was what I found for the VGA failed message, however I'm using a 480W supply and I don't think that would be it. If anyone could give me an idea of what causes this blacking out it would be very appreciated. |
