Screen Flickers with a GeForce 6200
I have a small problem with the video card on my computer. Whenever I’m watching DVD’s, the screen will “flicker” back and forth. Basically during the movie the screen will get brighter, then darker, then back to the “normal” amount of light.
There is no rhyme or reason to it. It will flicker back and forth for seconds, then not do it for a few minutes. Then will be constant, followed by 10 minutes of normal display. It does it on a CRT monitor, and a LCD screen. The power supply recently was replaced and it still does it. On both the DVD-ROM drive and the DVD-burner it flickers. All current drivers from Nvidia have been installed. If I have a movie that has been copied to the hard drive, the computer plays that back perfectly. Also, I can’t watch DVD’s with Windows Media Player, v10 and the classic. Just get a lot of interference. But VLC media player plays DVD’s just fine. For troubleshooting, what else should I look at? Is the video card just a dud? Is it something to do with the optical drives? If there is a thread that discusses this then please point me there! Thanks for reading this! System Specs. Motherboard – ECS (P4M800PRO-M) CPU – Pentium 4 (2.4GHz) RAM – 1 GB DDR2 (266MHz) x 2 Video – Asus GeForce 6200 (128MB) Windows XP Pro (SP3) |
