Compatability help
Hello there, I have had my girlfriends computer at my house for a few weeks now as i reformatted the system for her. I have noticed that the PC struggles with many applications such as games and would like to upgrade the PC slightly to give it more of an edge. Upgrades such as a new GPU ( if compatable ) and more RAM.
The current system setup is as follows. >> PROCESSOR << Type : Intel Celeron D Internal Specification : Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.53GHz Model Number : 325J Codename : Prescott Revision : E0 Technology : 0.09µ CPU ID : F.4.1 CPU IDEx : F.4.1 Microcode : MU0F4109 Real Frequency : 2527.15 MHz Multiplier : 19x Low/High Multiplier : 14x / 19x Multiplier Locked : Yes Marketing Frequency : 2533.46 MHz >> MAINBOARD << Manufacturer : Dell Computer Corp. Re: Compatability help
From what I can see this dell only has 3 pci slots. No agp or pci-e slots. While Upgradeing a pc with only pci slots isn't impossible , its very limited. The pci cards that are any good are low end cards that are very expensive because they are a very specific part. Also , the computer has a celeron which is even slower then a pentium 4.
Could you post the model of the dell.

Re: Compatability help
Yes definatly .. the model of the Dell is a Dimension 1100/B110 i am more then sure.. i run the service tag on the dell website and the following models came up. Any further help would be great.. even on slight tweaks. If nothing applies then a new pc is needed i would say.

Re: Compatability help
Well if you just want to speed it up you can reinstall the windows os , then add AVG or a decent firewall to protect the fresh install.
I just really wouldn't toss any money into it as the parts you would buy would be older parts that wouldn't be useful on a newer machine later on. You could get ram for it , if you find it for cheap. But it maxes out at 1gb of DDR 400 (2x 512).
