weird video/hardrive problem

I have also posted this thread in the harddrive forum as i'm not sure where the problem is coming from.
I have a computer with a gigabyte mobo it was working fine then all of a sudden it wouldn't give me video off the onboard video. I put a agp vido card on it and it fired up after 2 tries. worked fine until i shut it down because of a scheduled power outage which never happened. when i tried to start it up again i had no video once more and the computer was making a pathetic beep sound almost like the backu up sound of delivery truck. I 0changed the video card out it wouldn't work, thought it might be the power supply so i plugged in another into the mobo only and low and behold I had video using the agp card and the mobo video. figured it was fixed , wrong. when i plugged in the peripherals no video. so i unplugged them all and tried plugging in each one and found the culprit to be the hd. i tried the hd in another computer with a gigabyte board in it and it works just fine. i've been building comuters for some 20 years and have never seen this does anyone have an idea as to what is wrong?

thanks bob

Re: weird video/hardrive problem

Welcome to TSF.

I'd say the motherboard is bad. What model is it?
Also - try reseating the RAM stick(s) and run MemTest.
